Red Microwave

In the kitchen, it is stylish to use bright and striking colors and to use contrasts to make the kitchen area look bright, lively and happy. A microwave that is bright red or even a deeper cherry color can really make a bold statement when it is sitting on your countertop. That little splash of color on a white countertop that is part of a light colored kitchen is not only quite stylish, it adds an artistic quality to your interior decorating plans in the kitchen.

Over Range Microwave

You don't have to give up your stove fan and light to put your microwave oven over the range of your kitchen. There are plenty of designs for microwaves to fit in that space that allow for those existing mechanisms to stay in place and continue to be functional. However, to accommodate a microwave over your stove, there are some preparations that are going to be called for.

Mini Microwave

One appliance that will help your freshman make that transition to college would be a very small or "mini" microwave oven. There are models of microwaves that are drastically smaller than the version you use in your kitchen at home. These miniaturized appliances are made for situations just like this where even though the living space is small, having a microwave would do a lot to help that college student cope with daily life in school.

Microwave Turntable

One problem with microwave cooking is this thing called "hot spots" and the corresponding cold spots. What happens is if you heat up a dish for a minute or two and take it out and stir it, part of food will be piping hot and other parts still as chilled as when you put it in the microwave. So you often have to stir the dish and then microwave it again to get all of the food cooked or heated up. A turntable positions the food in different ways relative to the microwaves being uses, which cuts down on the hot and cold spot problem.

Microwave Stand

A new stand for the microwave can provide lots of functionality along with giving you the ability to get the microwave off of the kitchen countertop. But that one step alone can go a long way to changing the way your wife uses the space in her kitchen for the better. Not only will you free up the square footage on the counter where the microwave sat, you return the area in front of the microwave to use by the cook because that area does not have to stay available when it is time to open the microwave door.

Microwave Recipes

The advantage of cooking full meals using your microwave is that it saves both time and energy doing it this way. If you can cook a main dish in fifteen minutes what might have taken an hour and a half in a conventional oven, that not only makes meal preparation so much easier for you, it cuts down on the power needed to work your gas or electric oven and it reduces the amount of heat that is pumped into your home when you use a full sized oven. There is no reason you cannot prepare main dishes or delicious side dishes in your microwave oven that are just as good as the conventional style of cooking. You just have to find recipes that adapt the cooking process to the unique aspects of cooking with microwaves.

Microwave Popcorn

The great way that a microwave can pop a perfect batch of popcorn every single time is almost reason enough to own a microwave oven. Before we had microwaves to give us perfect popcorn every time, popcorn was made on the stovetop by adding corn to boiling vegetable oil. You had to stand there and shake the popcorn popper so the popped kernels did not burn to the bottom of the pan. But even doing that, you still got some burnt ones.

Microwave Parts

If you have a microwave oven that is not working, the repair process can be tricky. But if you are adept at repairing household appliances, you may be able to effect a repair especially if the problem is in a relatively easy to replace unit on the microwave. Before attempting any repair, you do need to take some time and get to know the inner workings of the machine at a pretty detailed level. Your product literature may be able to help somewhat and it will be a good source of information about dealership contacts for getting the microwave repaired by them.

Microwave Oven

Even though the value of microwaves is common and well known, there is a lot of variety in styles, designs and functions that you can find when you go on the market to buy a new microwave oven. Size is a big consideration when you purchase a new unit because where you will keep your microwave is a big issue in the limited space of most kitchens. To determine how large you need your microwave to be, you should have a firm grasp on what you will be using the appliance for on a daily basis.

Microwave Kiln

You actually have the tools right in your own home to take that play dough masterpiece and "fire" it so it can be preserved for the future. You don't need a fancy artists kiln like the one they use to make the pottery or the sculptures you see in museums. You can actually use your trusty microwave to fire that play dough sculpture and turn it into artwork you will be proud to display in your bookcase or at the office for coworkers to admire.

Microwave Corn

The boiling method of making corn on the cob works but it is messy and difficult and you have to start well in advance to have the corn ready when your guests arrive. A nice alternative that many do not know is even possible is to prepare your corn on the cob in the microwave. The process is pretty easy and maybe easier than the boiling method. And the outcome is corn that is ready to eat right out of the cob.

Microwave Cookware

Finding cookware that is microwave safe these days is no challenge. Because the microwave oven dominates most kitchens, all of the major cookware manufacturers know enough to make their products safe for both the microwave and the dishwasher. But one criterion that you might also impose on any new pieces of cookware that you buy is to make sure anything you buy for cooking can be used in the microwave, in the conventional oven or even on the stovetop. That is good flexibility.

Microwave Components

It really is amazing when you think about it that daily we press a button and heat our food and beverages with beams that could kill us if they got loose from that microwave oven. But these simple and very common ovens are so well made and built with so much emphasis on safety that everything about the design of that small box prevents an accident from ever happening. That design that goes into every component of a microwave oven is one of the reasons that we all have come to trust these appliances so much so that we would not consider our homes complete unless there is a microwave in every kitchen.

Microwave Carts

If your kitchen does not have a dedicated space for the microwave, it will have to occupy cabinet space which cuts into the area you have for meal preparation. A terrific answer to this problem is to purchase a stylish cart for your microwave to sit on that can be near the "action" of the kitchen but not underfoot. A cart for the microwave can be positioned anywhere in or around the kitchen or even just outside of the kitchen.

Microwave Cart

Sometimes you do have to use some ingenuity and creativity in where your microwave sits however. In many kitchens, counter space is at a premium. A microwave can fill up a lot of counter space. In these situations, a good movable cart may be just the thing.

Microwave Cake

The real secret to making great cakes in the microwave lies in the cookware that you use. For best results, purchase heat and serve bake ware or containers that are specifically designed for microwave baking. Tupperware and many other cooking supply companies make baking bowls and containers that are designed to create delicious cakes just using your microwave oven. It is a little more clutter to keep special baking gear around just to make cakes in the microwave. But there are certain situations where using your microwave even to make a delicious cake is a great alternative.

Microwave Absorber

As much as we admire how much the development of microwave technology has benefited our lives, it is the parallel development of absorbers to control microwaves so they accomplish what they are supposed to but ONLY what they are supposed to do. In fact, science was able to focus microwaves long before the microwave oven and other applications began to benefit from the technology. But it was when absorbing material was invented that could reliably eliminate the potential for microwave leakage that caused the explosion of beneficial uses of microwaves in many areas of life including our humble microwave ovens.

Cajun Microwave

Yes, it is possible to conquer the skills of Cajun cooking at home and even learn to prepare fine Cajun fish delicacies for your own guests. The image of an old Cajun chef slaving for hours or days over a recipe comes from the assumption that something so delicious had to take a tremendous investment of time and skill to produce. It might come as a surprise then that not only is it possible to prepare a Cajun fish meal in the microwave but that the microwave is actually a preferred way to prepare these recipes.
